The first time I met Vera and Winnie was just a few days before their wedding day. Since they live in Hong Kong we were only able to meet at my studio as soon as they arrived in the city. This was a small (5 people!) City Hall wedding. I especially love city hall weddings because they are short and sweet, and we always have lots of time for photos before and after the ceremony!
Vera & Winnie asked me if I could recommend a location to shoot. Without thinking twice I suggested we go to Cherry Beach. It is such a beautiful time of the year at the beach, magical in fact. Even though the lake was not frozen anymore, there was still a beautiful thick layer of ice left between the shore and the water. Stunning visual indicator for season change! We took a walk on the beach when the girls mentioned they would like to get some photos with the dogs in the off leash area. Photos with dogs…? You chose the right guy for the task! Those of you who know me personally know that I am a huge dog lover, and greatly inspired by Elliot Erwitt’s dog photos.
After Cherry Beach we made our way to city hall for a beautiful and intimate ceremony. So chill and stress free – I LOVE IT!
We continued on for some fun photos in graffiti alley and Trinity Bellwoods Park. As soon as we got to the park I noticed the “Love Heals” sign someone tied on the tennis court fences. What a great example of beautiful and unpredictable photo opportunities you often run into in downtown Toronto. You just never know what you might find!
What a great day to celebrate love. I feel so lucky to have been a part of Vera and Winnie’s sweet day!
