Every once in a while I am reminded of a favourite moment that happened during a wedding. Some romantic and touching, while others straight up strange and hard to explain. This series of blog posts is an invitation into my thought process. Not my camera bag, settings or lighting - only thoughts and intentions.
The Story of the Three Mikes
Almost a year ago I photographed Tara & Mike’s beautiful wedding at Hart House in the University of Toronto. What a couple of sweethearts. As soon as the ceremony was over, we walked out to take some couple portraits around campus. I can’t remember who came up with it but we decided to do the “Flying Veil” shot. As you know, veils don’t just fly in the air in real life. They only do that in fairytale, soft purple highlights type weddings. Since Tara and Mike’s wedding was as real as it gets, I decided to make a comment about that. Since it was just the three of us, we had to look for someone to help us throw that veil in the air. I holler at the first person I see and what do you know – his name is Mike. Now will be a good time to mention that (groom) Mike’s best man’s name was… Mike.
Coincidence? I think not.
